Dec 14, 2016 – Hamilton, ON – The Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario (TTSAO) has set the agenda for their second annual conference, the TTSAO “Striving for Excellence in Training” Conference, scheduled for February 15th and 16th, 2016 at the Centre for Health and Safety Innovation in Mississauga Ontario.

Charlie Charalambous, TTSAO Conference Committee Chair commented, “This year the conference committee has done an outstanding job of putting together a fantastic agenda that we hope will exceed the expectations of our attendees. The TTSAO 2017 conference has been designed to be affordable, educational and most importantly, fun to be at.”

The conference is once again laid out in a two-day format; day one will include a TTSAO Carrier Group Meeting, a TTSAO Board of Directors’ Meeting (Directors only) followed followed by the Association’s Annual General Meeting which is open to all members and those who are thinking of joining. After the General Meeting, there will be a cocktail party and registrants will be able to visit companies and sponsors who are participating in the trade show.

Day two will feature presentations and panels from some of the industry’s best on the following topics:

• Mandatory Entry Level Driver Training Discussion and Panel

• Rebuilding the Image of Trucking Panel

• Women in Trucking – Advancing Careers and Opportunities Presentation (featuring Kelly Henderson)

• A TTSAO Graduate Panel Discussion

Additionally there will be representation from the Provincial Government along with an engaging presentation from Healthy Trucker.

Following the successful format of the first conference the afternoon session will be “The Stan and Mike Show”, featuring a candid conversation about trucking with one of the industry’s best, Mike McCarron - President of Left Lane Associates. Mike has a long history in the transportation industry and promises to share many stories behind the success of his various ventures.

Once again John G. Smith, Editor of Today’s Trucking, has agreed to serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.

Don’t miss out on this great event - TTSAO Members and Associate Members for only $199.00 plus HST per registrant and $249.00 plus HST for non-TTSAO Members.

If you are a non-TTSAO member who would like to join the TTSAO and attend the conference please contact Kim Richardson, TTSAO Chairman of the Board, to discuss a special discounted rate.

It's well past time the Feds Provinces Territories Come Together to effectively Monitor Commercial Motor Carrier Safety Fitness Rating

The Feds, Provinces & Territories Must Work Together to effectively Monitor Carrier Safety Fitness

The System in place currently has been broken for a long time, and solutions offered by Industry have yet to be acted upon

(the below is an exert of a communication that was sent by the PMTC to the CCMTA, Transport Canada & The Council of Ministers Responsible for Transportation)

Currently Commercial Motor Carriers who wish to operate a trucking fleet in Canada must apply for a Safety Fitness Certificate to the Provincial Authority in which they plan to licence their vehicles. If the Provincial Authority of the base jurisdiction approves the application, a National Safety Code (NSC) will be issued to the Carrier. The base jurisdiction is then responsible for monitoring the motor carrier for safety and compliance, based on National Safety Code 14, which is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) all jurisdictions agreed to several years back. https://www.ccmta.ca/en/national-safety-code
