Private Motor Carrier is pleased to present a roundtable discussion with the past Private Fleet Safety Award Winners. The participants discuss their companies and the ways in which they improve road safety, especially where they exceed National Safety Code requirements, and promote best practices in private fleet safety management.
MacEwen began as a small operation serving customers in rural Eastern Ontario. For years, it supplied Maxville, Ontario, and the surrounding areas with heating oil, diesel, and, most importantly, reliable service. Almost 50 years later, it is recognized as a leading Canadian independent petroleum and convenience store company.
Sierra had often dreamed of carving out a career in the transportation industry.
Dale Howard is the Regional Manager of Safety for Pilot Flying J Canada and became interested in the private fleet industry because of Pilot Flying J’s model of hauling. “We haul our own products to our own stores, we support the stores with our private fleet, and that’s what got me interested in becoming a member of PMTC,” he said.

PMTC YLG ANNOUNCES INCOMING BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada Young Leaders Group is announcing its incoming Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term. The New Boards term runs from July 1st of 2024 through to June 30th of 2026. The Board was announced at the PMTC’s annual general meeting in Niagara Fall’s on June 18th.
