The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada, along with the sponsor of the YLG Bursary awards, Tenstreet & The PMTC Young Leaders Group, were pleased to present 2 deserving individuals with the 2025 "PMTC-Tenstreet- Young Leaders Group Education Bursary" at its Annual General Meeting & Conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

1 bursary was available to PMTC Members companies, while the other bursary was made available to students in Mohawk College's Supply Chain Management Program, thanks to Tenstreet's sponsorship of the bursary awards.

Through a partnership developed in 2022, up to 5 students in the Mohawk program are provided a 1-year free YLG PMTC Membership. Each one of these students is assigned a mentor from PMTC's Young Leaders Group and are taken to industry events to be introduced to the industry, make connections, and make for an easier transition into the field. 5 students were with us in Niagara Falls, and one of them was awarded a bursary.

Both awards were presented by PMTC's YLG Board Chair Sud Malhotra & Ed Christie Choice from Tenstreet.

"These awards present emerging young leaders with the funds to take 2 of the 4 courses required to complete the PMTC Logistics Management Graduate Program," stated PMTC President Mike Millian. "These courses are offered through CITT, a leader in Transportation Logistics training. When completed, this will arm these individuals with the skills and confidence necessary to climb the ranks in their organisation and help them become a successful Leader. We also believe this award will help promote investment in the training needs of our future leaders."

She also coordinated free shuttle services for Covid-19 infected community members to get them to the nearest hospital for treatment.

In January of 2021 Vaishali went to work for ARK Call Target in India as the Manager of foreign process. While doing her studies, Vaishali also worked at Bose accounting from March until October of 2024 in the role of bookkeeper. With her background, as well as expanded knowledge of Canadian logistics, this bursary will allow her to be able to mentor others, as she has a deep passion for contributing to the Canadian Transportation ecosystem.

Rahul Vardhani, Wellington Group of Companies

Rahul's journey at Wellington as an employee began in August of 2023, but his introduction to Wellington begin a few years prior when he was a student at Conestoga College in their Logistics, Material and Supply Chain Management Program. Rahul was one of hundreds of students that the Wellington team met, but Rahul stood out. At the time Wellington didn't have any entry level positions open, but Rahul was diligent and followed up every couple months. This diligence resulted in Wellington reaching out to Rahul as soon as an opening came up! Rahul has excelled at every role he has had at Wellington, and is very eager to learn, with an incredibly strong work ethic. One customer was so impressed with Rahul they tried to hire him directly, but Rahul was loyal to Wellington and turned it down.

Rahul is currently the Operations and Fulfillment Supervisor with Wellington and gets rave reviews for his work. Rahul has graduated from Sustainable Business Management as well as the Supply Chain Management Program, both from Conestoga. Rahul, however, strives to better himself and learn more at every turn. He is the youngest person in the history of Wellington to be enrolled in the CITT program and already graduated from his 1st class with honours. Rahul not only wants to learn and expand his knowledge; he also wants to give back. Rahul has already been able to go back to Conestoga college and be a guest speaker in front of the class of students in his former program. He was able to tell the students about his experience with the program as well as his time working in the industry since. Rahul also recommended another student from the program that Wellington hired, who Rahul took under his wing. She is now one of Wellington's latest success stories, and Rahul has played a large role on that. Rahul's drive for success makes him an ideal candidate to receive the bursary, which will provide him with the funds to take 2 more course at CITT as he works towards his CCLP designation. We have no doubt he will fully succeed and take full advantage of the benefits.
