A Conversation with Chris Nash,

Director, Driver Programs – Women Building Futures

The following interview was conducted with Chris Nash following his contribution to a panel at the PMTC Western Canada Conference.

Can you tell us a bit about your role with Women Building Futures and the kind of programs and support your organization provides to help women enter and thrive in industries like transportation and trucking?

At Women Building Futures (WBF), our mission is to remove barriers for women and gender-diverse individuals by providing free training and comprehensive wraparound supports. These programs prepare participants to enter industries such as transportation and the trades – fields where women have historically been underrepresented.

Angela Splinter, CEO, Trucking HR Canada

Trucking HR Canada gathered three TFE private fleets recently to take an inside look at their approaches and practices that help drive their performance as Top Fleet Employers.

In this session, presented in partnership with the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC), leaders from Canada Cartage, Home Hardware, and Ryder provided key insights into how their companies tackle retention, leadership development, culture, and inclusion – and what other fleets can learn.

Private fleets may have an easier time finding and keeping drivers than for-hire fleets.
